| Truck and rail tanker spills (oil, gas, diesel fuel) |
|
Ever heard a story like this.... On Thursday, July 22, 2010, Tampa Fire Department said that a gasoline tanker has spilled more than 2,000 gallons after being punctured. The Marathon tanker was leaving the Marathon fuel terminal at the Port of Tampa when it accidentally struck a yellow parking post. "The post damaged the tanker causing damage to two sections of the tanker itself," he said. "Causing it to spill about 2,000 gallons of gasoline." Wade said some good news is that that the tanker carries 8,000 gallons and only 2,000 spilled. Wade said the mission now is to secure the area and make sure nothing catches on fire. "The major concern out here right now is of course that gasoline is highly flammable and even the smallest spark could ignite this truck," he said. "And it is near some very large fuel holding areas." We hear stories like this every day. When we get a call like this, we jump into action to resolve it immediately. The longer it takes to get to the scene, the larger the damage to our environment and higher chances of fire exist. Texas Strike Force Team does not waste time. We care about the environment and know that every second counts. Contact our emergency number above if you are in need of:
